Twelve tents for 2026 carry an official release date or a “new product” label. My pick is Coleman's Touring Dome/SDX, which added a skirt for only +300g. Subtracting the previous generation, the biggest mover is Snow Peak's Landlock X: the price is 1.97 times higher, and capacity drops from 6 people to 4.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
Subtract the previous generation first, then look at the new tent.A tent redesign either changes the frame or adds a skirt and windows, and whatever gets added shows up directly in weight and price. By the official numbers, the Touring Dome/SDX added a skirt for +300g, while the rebuilt frame on the Landlock X costs +JPY 123,200. So I decide whether to upgrade by one question: do I camp in the season that the added parts are for?
Key points
- Of the 12 tents, 6 came out in September: Coleman's SDX and the 50th-anniversary Cocoon III, Snow Peak's Aerocamurashell, and three from DOD.
- Air frames do not pack small. The Aerocamurashell packs to 142.9L, which is 1.42 times the 100.5L of the pole-type Landlock X's two bags combined.
- The 50 Limited Cocoon III has the same price, weight and dimensions as the regular 4S Wide 2-Room Cocoon III. The differences are the black color and a limited logo.

The 2026 new tents did not get lighter
You would expect a new tent to be lighter and smaller than the old one. Subtract the numbers and it is the opposite. Of the 6 pairs I could compare with the previous generation, none got lighter, 5 got heavier, and 1 stayed the same.
What was added is a skirt, mesh, a bigger vestibule, and a rebuilt frame.
How I chose
I sleep in a tent for more than half the year, so I pitch and strike tents dozens of times a year. In a table of new models, I look first at the difference from the previous generation and at the longest side of the packed size, before any sales pitch.
The model that widens the usable seasons with a small difference was the Touring Dome/SDX, which got a skirt. The Landlock X, at 1.97 times the price, is only for people who will use what was added.
Coleman Touring Dome/SDX
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 21,780 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 25,300 between shops. Prices change daily.

Six came out in September. Companies state waterproof ratings in different ways, and Snow Peak and DOD give the lowest value, so I put how to read them in the tent waterproof rating article.
New Tents vs. the Previous Model: Subtracting Weight and Price
| New ← Previous | Weight difference | Price difference | Other numbers that changed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landlock X ← Landlock | +1.0kg | +JPY 123,200 | Capacity 6 → 4 people |
| Kinoko Tent 2 ← Kinoko Tent | +2.8kg | +JPY 15,400 | Floor 1.40x, fly 3,000 → 2,000mm |
| Futaheya Rakuda Tent ← Riders Tandem Tent | +2.7kg | +JPY 9,420 | Packed length 65 → 80cm |
| Touring Dome/LDX ← LX | +0.4kg | +JPY 2,530 | Floor and packed size are the same |
| Touring Dome/SDX ← ST | +0.3kg | +JPY 3,520 | Floor and packed size are the same |
| 50 Limited Cocoon III ← 4S Wide 2-Room Cocoon III | 0kg | JPY 0 | Dimensions and waterproof rating are the same |
The numbers matched. The Kinoko Tent 2's 1.40x is the same as DOD's own claim that the inner tent is 1.4 times larger.
Three Big Ones: Landlock X and the Air Frames
Snow Peak Landlock X
This is the pair with the biggest gap from the previous generation. The maker says it stands the walls nearly vertical without changing the outer dimensions, and gains about 10% usable volume. The fly's waterproof rating is now 3,000mm minimum, all the way to the walls.
This part is a weak point. The price per kilogram rose from JPY 5,163 to JPY 9,792, so it suits people who sleep four at most and can pay for the wider interior. A table comparing ten 2-room tents is in the 2-room tent article.
Snow Peak Landlock X (TP-672)
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 229,930 (as of 10/13). Prices change daily.
Snow Peak Aero Cumulus Shell
This is a shelter that stands on inflated tubes. The maker's own test with an electric pump says setup takes “5 minutes”, but the setup time on the same page is about 30 minutes, so the 5 minutes is the time until the fabric stands.
It does not pack small. The volume is 142.9L, which is 1.42 times the 100.5L of the pole-type Landlock X's two bags combined. With the weight concentrated in one bag, it is a tool for people with trunk space and arm strength to spare.
DOD Deka Kinoko Tent Air
This one is also an air tent, but its longest packed side is 70cm, the shortest of the six tents that sleep four or more. There is no center pole. It is hexagonal, with a floor of about 415 × 360cm.
A hand pump and repair patches come with it. It suits families of up to 6 adults whose trunk depth is limited. I put the numbers in the big Kinoko Tent Air review.
New Tents for Solo and Touring
Coleman Touring Dome/SDX and LDX
There are two differences. The floor and packed size stay the same as the ST and LX, and a full skirt and mesh on both sides were added. The added weight is small, as the table shows, and that small difference buys a range that works in both winter and summer.
Watch the width: divided by the maximum capacity, that is 60cm per person, so I recommend the SDX for one person and the LDX for up to two. A table comparing 12 solo tents is in the solo tent article.
Coleman Touring Dome/LDX
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 19,426 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 28,249 between shops. Prices change daily.
Sabbatical RYNEL-1 and RYNEL-2
These are for people who carry the tent on their back. The difference between the 1-person and 2-person models is only 170g and JPY 4,400, so I would pick the RYNEL-2. These 2 are the ones in the table that come in under 2kg.
Watch the price. The RYNEL-2 is JPY 51,700, about 1.9 times the Touring Dome/LDX (JPY 27,500).
DOD Futaheya Rakuda Tent
It succeeds the Riders Tandem Tent: the one-touch bedroom stays, the vestibule is wider, and a skirt is added. The bedroom floor is about 210 × 210cm. For 3 adults, that is 70cm each.
Watch the packed length, which is now 80cm. It suits a car better than a motorcycle's rear carrier.
DOD Futaheya Rakuda Tent
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 40,054 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 53,019 between shops. Prices change daily.
New Tents for Families
Coleman Tough Speed Dome
It is pitched differently. You stand the self-supporting A-frame first, then spread the fabric over it, in a 2-room layout. On the official feature page, two staff members take about 20 minutes, including the pegs.
Watch the bedroom: it tapers at the back, and divided by the maximum of 5 people it is 68cm each, so with adults only I would use it for up to 4.
Coleman Tough Speed Dome
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 69,970 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 86,900 between shops. Prices change daily.
DOD Kinoko Tent 2
If you choose by bedroom space, this is the one. With 4 adults, each gets 85cm of width. Of the 7 tents with floor dimensions listed, it was the only one over 75cm.
This part is a weak point. The fly's minimum waterproof rating is lower than before, and the packed length is 100cm. I recommend it to families who can measure the width of their trunk first.
DOD Kinoko Tent 2
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 55,000 (as of 10/13). Prices change daily.
Coleman 50 Limited Cocoon III and Zane Arts KIIRA
The difference is just color. The Cocoon III is a black special edition for Coleman's 50th anniversary, and its price, weight, dimensions and waterproof rating are the same as the regular 4S Wide 2-Room Cocoon III. I lined up the differences in the 50 Limited Cocoon III review. The KIIRA is a 2-person, 2-room shelter with a polycotton roof; the official page says “basically no fire,” and a wood stove is at your own risk.
Who is it for?
It suits people who want to extend a new tent into autumn and winter camping. My pick, the Touring Dome/SDX, added a skirt for only +300g. I think it is a well-done redesign.
If you only camp from spring to autumn in the Touring Dome ST or LX, all that was added is the skirt and side mesh. The difference from the 4S Wide 2-Room Cocoon III is the black color and a limited logo. If you sleep five or six, the Landlock X holds 4, so the current Landlock still fits better.
FAQ
Are 2027-model tents already out?
Only LOGOS used the words “2027 model” on an official page, and the product name is inside an image, so I left it out of the table.
In which month do new tents usually come out?
September. Of the 12 tents in this article, 6 came out in September, the most of any month. Next is April with 2, then June with 1.
Which of the 2026 new tents are for solo camping?
The Touring Dome/SDX and the Sabbatical RYNEL-1. If you carry the tent on your back, take the RYNEL. If you go by car or motorcycle, take the SDX.
