The Deka Kinoko Tent Air is the tent for families of 5–6 who want to put up a big bedroom without threading poles. Announced on September 4, 2026 with a rolling release, it's JPY 129,800 incl. tax, with a floor of about 415×360cm and a fly with a minimum waterproof rating of 3,000mm.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

The Deka Kinoko Tent Air stands on air beams, yet its longest packed side is just 70cm. With no center pole, you can use the whole hexagonal floor as bed space. So it's the first tent I suggest to families who want a 6-person bedroom in a shape that's easy to load even into a kei car.

Key points

  • The floor is about 415×360cm, 14.94㎡. Divided among 6 adults that's 69.2cm each; with 5, 83cm
  • Fly minimum waterproof rating 3,000mm and floor 5,000mm: better in rain than its sibling, the Kinoko Tent 2 (fly 2,000mm)
  • About 4 minutes with the included hand pump. The ground sheet and mat are a separately sold set (JPY 29,700)

When was the Deka Kinoko Tent Air released? Price and size

DOD announced it on Sep 4, 2026, and a rolling release has begun. The price on DOD STORE is JPY 129,800 incl. tax.

It's an air tent whose frame is inflated tubes, rated for 6 adults. When you sleep in a tent more than half the year, you pitch and strike dozens of times a year. So with big tents, before weight, I look at "the hassle of threading poles" and "the longest packed side". This tent's frame is mostly air beams, with only the entrance front pole being a pole. Its longest packed side is 70cm.

How I judged it

I looked at the floor first. About 415×360cm, 14.94㎡ as a rectangle. That's about 5㎡ more than its sibling the Kinoko Tent 2's 10.03㎡, a size that answers head-on the problem of families who don't have enough bedroom.

The price is where I hesitated: 2.36 times the Kinoko Tent 2. I still recommend it because the fly's minimum waterproof rating goes up to 3,000mm and you can raise a 6-person bedroom on air. For a family of 5–6, it's worth paying for.

Here's how it lines up against other air tents.

As shown on each official page on Oct 18, 2026. DOD is the DOD STORE price. The Kinoko Tent 2 is a pole-based one-touch tent; the other 3 are air-frame tents.

Among these air tents, this one has the biggest bedroom floor. Price per ㎡ of floor is 129,800 ÷ 14.94 = about JPY 8,688, about 40% of the LOGOS XL (165,000 ÷ 7.29 = about JPY 22,634).

It packs to about 70×38×38cm, about 101.1L. That's about 40% smaller than the LOGOS XL's 164L, a shape that's easy to load even in a car with a shallow cargo area.

How does it differ from the Kinoko Tent 2? How to choose

There are 3 differences. The floor is 1.49× bigger, the fly's minimum waterproof rating goes from 2,000mm to 3,000mm, and the floor is 5,000mm. In exchange, it's +4.2kg and +JPY 74,800.

Split by headcount and there's no dilemma: up to 4, the Kinoko Tent 2; 5–6 sleeping, the Deka Kinoko Tent Air. Width per person is 69.2cm with 6, or 83cm with 5. I put the Kinoko Tent 2's numbers in the Kinoko Tent 2 review.

What I like, and a short caveat

The fabric handles rain and sun well. The fly is 150D polyester with a blackout coating on the back, blocking 99.9% or more of light. DOD's waterproof ratings are set so the minimum value, not the average, meets the figure, so 3,000mm is a conservative way of stating it. How to read it is in the tent waterproof rating article.

Inflating takes about 4 minutes. About 4 minutes with the included double-action pump, and the same about 4 minutes with the separately sold electric "Panpan Pump", where you just press the switch and wait. With no center pole, the middle of the sleeping area stays open.

Leave room in the headcount and the bedroom doubles as gear storage. With 5 people on the 14.94㎡ floor, that's about 3㎡ each (14.94 ÷ 5). You can sleep with bags of clothes and the kids' toys right inside the bedroom.

One caveat: raising it and pulling the cover over are meant to be done by two or more adults. If you often pitch alone, there are other ways to choose.

What to buy with it

No ground sheet or mat is included. The match is the separately sold "Deka Kinoko Air mat and sheet set" (JPY 29,700): a 6mm inner mat plus a ground sheet rated 5,000mm. For people who want to block the wind while keeping the view, there's also a dedicated clear window (JPY 11,000).

Who is it for?

It best suits families of 5–6. Dividing the 14.94㎡ floor by headcount gives about 3㎡ each for 5, and still about 2.5㎡ for 6 (14.94 ÷ 6), enough to keep clothes and the kids' things in the bedroom.

For up to 4 people, the Kinoko Tent 2, with a floor that's just right, is another choice.
