The red Kinoko-print DOD Perry Wagon is my pick for families who want a wagon even with a small cargo area. The 130L bed folds down to about 31×25×60cm. It is a limited model, announced on Sep 4, 2026 as 1 piece of the Kinoko series, at JPY 17,600 and about 8.9kg.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
The bed floor is about 91×45cm, 609 cm² larger than the Coleman Outdoor Wagon NX. Yet it folds to 46.5L, smaller than any of the 7 wagons in my ranking. A big floor and a small fold usually mean picking one. That is why I recommend it as the 1st wagon for families who want to free up cargo space.
Key points
- The inside of the bed measures about 91×45×32cm, which multiplies out to 131L. The 130L figure describes a flat box, so it suits loading containers side by side
- Folded, it is about 31×25×60cm, or 46.5L. Capacity divided by folded volume is 2.8x
- The standard colors cost JPY 15,730 with identical specs. The Kinoko print costs JPY 1,870 more

The Perry Wagon Kinoko gets you a big floor and a small fold
The red Kinoko-print DOD Perry Wagon (C2-178-RD) has a roomy bed floor of about 91×45cm and folds down to 46.5L. It costs JPY 17,600 and weighs about 8.9kg.
How I judged it
The first thing I checked was the folded size. About 31×25×60cm works out to 46.5L. That is 5.3L smaller than the DOD Aluminum Carry Wagon at 51.8L, the smallest in my ranking of 7 wagons.
My hesitation was whether the limited print is worth JPY 1,870. The specs match the standard colors, so the extra only makes sense if you love the print. I still recommend it, because no other wagon I compared folds a 130L bed this small.

When is the Perry Wagon Kinoko released, and what does it cost?
On Sep 4, 2026, DOD announced it as 1 of the new Kinoko series items, and it is rolling out to stores. The price is JPY 17,600 including tax.

| Folded size | About 31×25×60cm |
| Materials | Frame: steel / fabric: polyester (PU coated) |
When you spend half the year camping, the wagon is the last thing you load into the car every time. So before capacity, I look at where it will stand in the cargo area once folded.
Folded, the Perry Wagon stands 60cm tall. That is 10cm lower than the WAQ Outdoor Wagon DX at 70cm and close to the Coleman Outdoor Wagon NX at 62cm. It stands on a 31×25cm footprint, so it tucks into a corner of the cargo area or the rear footwell. This is what I like most about it.
How it differs from the standard colors and earlier models
The Perry Wagon itself is a long-running DOD staple. The standard colors (black, tan, blue and more) cost JPY 15,730 and share the red version's weight, capacity and dimensions. The only differences are the print and JPY 1,870.
DOD says this wagon is about 35% lighter than its earlier carry wagon. It has a telescoping handle, a frame that locks itself when you collapse it, and wheel locks for when you stop.
How it compares with WAQ and Coleman
| Item | DOD Perry | WAQ DX | Coleman NX |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | JPY 17,600 | JPY 15,800 | JPY 15,800 |
| Weight | About 8.9kg | About 12.66kg | About 9.3kg |
| Bed floor | 4,095c㎡ | 3,362c㎡ | 3,486c㎡ |
| Capacity | 130L | 178L | 115L (calculated) |
| Folded volume | 46.5L | 55.4L | 64.5L |
The floor is 91×45 = 4,095 cm², the largest of the 3. Capacity divided by folded volume is 2.8x for the Perry (130÷46.5), 3.2x for the WAQ and 1.8x for the NX.
If you stack bedding high, take the WAQ with its 53cm-deep bed. If you lay containers and coolers flat, or want cargo space back, take the Perry. For a family with a kei car or compact car, I'd take the Perry.

The weak points
Downside No. 1 is price. Per liter it comes to 17,600÷130 = about JPY 135, more than the WAQ at about JPY 89. If the print doesn't matter to you, a standard color saves JPY 1,870.
Downside No. 2 is depth. The bed is about 32cm deep, 21cm shallower than the WAQ at 53cm. Stack bulky sleeping bags and the top sticks out. The fabric doesn't come off, and the wheels aren't the kind you swap by removing a bolt.
Who is it for?
It suits families with a small cargo area who haul coolers and containers laid flat. If you are building a matching kit from the Kinoko series, like the Kinoko Tent, this print makes it a fun 1 to own.
If you want to stack bedding high, a wagon with a deeper bed is the other way to go. DOD warns against putting people or pets in it.
