The RYNEL-2 is a hanging-style tent where the fly and inner are joined from the start, and just by feeding two poles through the sleeves you get the bedroom up. Even if you pitch it in the rain, the inner stays dry. That is why I recommend the RYNEL-2 even to people who walk alone: 170g buys a wider floor.

When did the RYNEL-2 come out? How much is it?
It went on sale on Friday, Apr 3, 2026, at A&F Country's directly operated stores and online store. The price is JPY 51,700 incl. tax. It is one of Sabbatical's four 2026 new models, in the “backpacking line” for moving on foot.
When you sleep in a tent more than half the year, there are days you pitch in the rain and days you strike it wet. So with a mountain tent, after weight, I look at whether I can pitch it in the rain without wetting the inner. The RYNEL-2 is a hanging type with the fly and inner as one piece.
How I judged it
First I subtracted from the 1-person RYNEL-1. The total weight goes from 1,460g to 1,630g, +170g, and the price goes from JPY 47,300 to JPY 51,700, +JPY 4,400.
What I wondered was whether the RYNEL-1 is enough for solo use. I still recommend the RYNEL-2 because 170g buys a floor for two, and you can bring your pack and wet clothes inside the bedroom. Used by two, the weight per person is 815g (1,630 ÷ 2).

The fabric and frame are the same; only the size differs. The price per gram is 51,700 ÷ 1,630 = about JPY 31.7 for the RYNEL-2 and 47,300 ÷ 1,460 = about JPY 32.4 for the RYNEL-1. The bigger one is cheaper per gram.
What I like
A pitch that handles rain. Push the pole all the way into the sleeve and it sits in position; hook it on the holder at hand and pull the adjuster to lock it. You do not have to walk around to the other side, and since the inner hangs from the fly from the start, the bedroom stays dry even in rain.
Thin, strong fabric. It is ripstop nylon with silicone on the outside and PU on the inside; the silicone soaks into the fibers and makes it resist tearing. That is why a thin 20D fabric works in the mountains.
A door that changes with the season. You can swap between mesh and a fully closed panel: let air through in summer, keep warmth on cold nights. Take off the inner and it also works as a floorless shelter.

If you push for lightness, the Dragonfly OSMO 2P is 160g lighter, but it costs JPY 34,100 more. Decide by whether you would add JPY 30,000 for 160g, and most people should be happy with the RYNEL-2.

Who is it for?
It suits people who go camping by train or bus, or who walk some distance to the campsite. At under 2kg, even with the tent, sleeping bag and mat in your pack, the load on your back stays light.
If two people split the gear, the weight each carries drops further. It also suits couples and parents with children who walk between mountain campsites.
