The LOGOS Yaden Hang Gauge Lantern is a rechargeable lantern worth buying if you want to hang a warm filament-style light. The clincher is switching light colors on one unit: about 213 lumens, about 160g, JPY 3,980 incl. tax. The "gauge" in the name is not a battery meter, so if you want to see the remaining charge, or want maximum brightness all night, choose something else.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
The instruction manual says brightness figures are taken at full charge and drop as the charge runs down. With no battery meter on this lantern, the light dimming is your only sign the battery is going. So I don't plan my night on the max 213 lumens; I read it as about 128 lumens, 60% of that, for 5 hours.
Key points
- The "brass-finish gauge" is the brass-colored metal frame around the LED. The power button is red while charging and green when fully charged and while on; the manual describes no remaining-charge display
- Brightness × time is 213 × 3 = 639. The Carrot Lantern, with the same 2000mAh, is 130 × 8 = 1,040, so on paper the Hang Gauge Lantern is 60% of it
- Charging takes about 3 hours, less than a third of the Coleman Hanging E-Light (about 10 hours). But the manual asks you to keep it off while charging

The Hang Gauge Lantern went on sale Sep 24. The "gauge" is not a battery meter
The "gauge" in the name is not a battery meter. There's no meter among the parts named in the instruction manual; I read the "brass-finish gauge" as the brass-colored metal frame that surrounds the LED in the photos.
It went on sale on Sep 24, 2026 (LOGOS announcement), and you can buy it now. Its Yaden sibling, the Yaden Thunder Lantern (JPY 6,600), came out a little earlier on Aug 27, the same day as the inflatable 2-room LOGOS Air Magic PANEL Tunnel Dome XL.
How I judged it
When you spend half the year in a tent, a lantern is something you switch on every night. So the first thing I looked at was the bottom end of "about 3–90 hours": the 3 hours.
I compared it with the Carrot Lantern, which has the same 2000mAh. Brightness × time is 213 × 3 = 639, only 60% of the Carrot's 1,040 (130 × 8). I still recommend it because one unit switches between a warm filament light, a white or warm top light, and red light, and you can stop the brightness wherever you like.

Hang Gauge Lantern brightness, run time and weight
| Item | Yaden Hang Gauge Lantern |
|---|---|
| Official price (incl. tax) | JPY 3,980 |
| Total weight | About 160g |
| Size | About 8cm diameter × 11.5cm high |
| Brightness | LED bulb rating about 260 lumens / LOGOS standard about 213 lumens |
| Run time (normal use) | About 3–90 hours |
| Battery | Lithium-ion battery, 2000mAh |
| Charging | About 3 hours via USB Type-C (5V/1A) |
| Protection rating | IPX4 |
| What's included | Lantern, charging cable |
LOGOS lists two brightness figures. When comparing with other brands, I use the smaller LOGOS standard figure of 213 (the same reading as in the 12 LED lanterns article). Price per lumen is 3,980 ÷ 213 = about JPY 18.7, cheaper than the Carrot Lantern's JPY 22.8.
213 lumens is the starting figure; for 5 hours, dim to 60%
The instruction manual says brightness is measured at full charge and drops as the charge runs down, so 213 lumens is not a brightness that lasts for the full 3 hours.
I assumed the 3 hours is the time at full brightness with everything on. If dinner to bedtime is 5 hours, 639 ÷ 5 = about 128 lumens, which means dimming to 60% of max (128 ÷ 213). It's a rough guide that assumes brightness and time are inversely proportional.
The weak points
First, there's no battery level display. The power button is red while charging, green when fully charged, and green while on; the manual mentions no light that warns you the charge is getting low.
Second, you can't use it while charging. The manual asks you to turn it off while charging, because heat from the LED can build up and damage it. You can't run it through the night plugged into a power bank, so do your charging during the day.
Water resistance is IPX4 "rainproof". The manual warns not to leave it in the rain for long periods and not to use it near fire such as heaters.
vs the Carrot Lantern and Hanging E-Light

| Model | Brightness (high) | Run time on high | Weight | Official price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LOGOS Yaden Hang Gauge Lantern | 213lm | About 3 hours | About 160g | JPY 3,980 |
| Coleman Hanging E-Light | 250lm | About 10 hours | About 130g | JPY 3,960 |
| LOGOS Carrot Lantern | 130lm | About 8 hours | About 90g | JPY 2,970 |
| Goal Zero Lighthouse Micro Flash | 150lm | 7 hours | 68g | Around JPY 5,940 |
On the numbers, Coleman comes out ahead. If you decide on brightness and time alone, it's the Coleman Hanging E-Light: JPY 20 apart (3,980 − 3,960), with 250 lumens for about 10 hours. But charging takes about 10 hours (5V/500mA), 3.3 times the Hang Gauge Lantern's about 3 hours (10 ÷ 3).

If you want to see the remaining charge, there's the Goal Zero Lighthouse Micro Flash. The official distributor's page says it has an LED indicator showing remaining charge.
What else you need, and what's sold separately
It comes with just the lantern and a charging cable. No USB charger is included, and the manual warns against charging with anything other than the supplied cable. A tripod is a separately sold third-party item, and the manual says some shapes may not fit.
The reason to choose it isn't the brightness number; it's the switchable light colors and charging that's done in about 3 hours.

Who the Hang Gauge Lantern suits
It suits people who want to hang it over the table or under a tarp and spend mealtimes in warm light. At 160g it's light, and easy on the loop in a tent ceiling. With three light colors, it follows the flow of the evening on one unit: warm for dinner, white for cleaning up, red before bed.
If you want to light up the whole site, you can pair it with a large one from the 12 LED lanterns article (the GENTOS EX-350H is 1400 lumens).
