Of the new camping gear due from autumn/winter 2026 into 2027, only 7 items from 3 brands had an official release month. The soonest is military products from Therm-a-Rest and others in mid-November, 29–38 days after Oct 13. The one most worth waiting for is the separately sold inner tent for the Cocoon III; the one you don't need to wait for is SOTO's Windmaster.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

Read a release schedule starting from whether the current model has been discontinued. SOTO has put the SOD-310 on its discontinued list, and since April has sold a set of the successor stove with two kinds of pot supports at the same price. So I wouldn't wait for the autumn stand-alone version; I'd pick this set.

Skip the reasons and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • The military-spec NeoAir XTherm has the same R-value of 7.3 as the current model and weighs 1.57 times as much, 850g. If winter insulation is all you're after, there's no need to wait
  • The Windmaster SOD-311 comes standard with 4-arm pot supports at 82g and JPY 9,350. That's 5g lighter and JPY 2,090 cheaper than adding separately sold 4-arm pot supports to the current SOD-310
  • Snow Peak's Stick Torch is due winter 2026 or later, the Titanium Vacuum Mug spring 2027 or later. Official listings only give the season

I meant to wait for the new model, but the same stove was already out

SOTO's Windmaster is getting a new model number, the SOD-311. The official page says "due autumn 2026" and that the date will be announced once it's set.

Yet the same official site lists a set of this stove with two kinds of pot supports (SOD-311GS), released on April 17. The current SOD-310 was on the discontinued products list dated July 30.

When you sleep in a tent more than half the year, a stove is something you light every day. So in a release schedule, before the new features, I look at how long the current model will still be on sale.

Checked on Oct 13, 2026. Release dates and prices may change.

How I chose

First, the month. I opened the news pages and press releases of 20 brands to see whether the makers' official sites gave a release month. Only 7 items from 3 brands did.

Next, I subtracted the weight and price of the current models. The military-spec mat is where I hesitated: the R-value (the number for how well it blocks cold from the ground) is the same as the current model, yet it's heavier.

I split wait-or-buy by one question: can you buy something that does the same job today? I only wait for things you can't.

Reading mid-November as the 11th to the 20th, that's 29–38 days after Oct 13, about a month away. Coleman's February 2027, taken as the 1st, is 111 days away.

Most of the new releases arrived in September. The Aero Cumulus Shell, released Sep 19, and others are in the new tents of 2026 article.

No need to wait, even though it's new for autumn 2026: SOTO Windmaster SOD-311

What's new: SOTO describes the SOD-311 as the model that makes the previously optional 4-arm pot supports standard, with those supports about 18.5% lighter, at an unchanged price.

Still, you don't have to wait. The SOD-311GS comes with both 4-arm and 3-arm pot supports on the same stove, at the same price as the stand-alone version, and SOTO's discontinued list names this set as the SOD-310's successor.

Subtractions of the numbers on each official page on Oct 13, 2026 (e.g. 60g stove + 22g 4-arm pot supports = 82g, 82 − 67 = 15g). Mat weights compare the same sizes, and prices compare the top of each official price range.

Adding separately sold 4-arm pot supports (27g, JPY 2,090) to the current SOD-310 comes to 87g and JPY 11,440, while the SOD-311 is 82g and JPY 9,350: 5g lighter and JPY 2,090 cheaper by my math.

Things to watch: the set is described as a first-run limited item. If you can't find it, wait for the autumn stand-alone version. For people who only use small pots and want to save every gram, the 3-arm SOD-310 at 67g is still around. It's discontinued once stock runs out.

The micro regulator in the name is a part that evens out gas pressure; SOTO says it limits the drop in output from continuous use or a chilled canister. It also gives a figure: at −5°C outside air, it boils in about half the time of a stove without one. I explain why the flame weakens when the canister gets cold in the CB vs OD canister article.

Worth waiting for, due February 2027: the separately sold inner tent for the Cocoon III

In its Aug 18 press release, Coleman said a separately sold inner tent to add to the Cocoon III is "due for rolling release from February 2027", and that adding it lets you split the bedroom into two rooms.

Why wait: you can't buy anything that does the same job today. The Cocoon III's bedroom is 360×240cm for 5–6 people, so split among 6 that's 60cm of width each (360 ÷ 6). The more adults in the family, the more a second room helps. The tent's own numbers are in the 50 Limited Cocoon III review.

Things to watch: it's a "rolling" release, so it won't necessarily be in stores on February 1.

No need to wait for the mid-November military-spec mats

The military products are 17 items announced on Oct 13 by Mochizuki, the official distributor in Japan. The product page describes the military-spec NeoAir XTherm as a deep-winter mat protected from the ground by 200-denier nylon. The current NXT uses 30 and 70 denier.

Same R-value of 7.3, and 1.57 times the weight (850 ÷ 540). It's just heavier. Per point of R-value, that's 116.4g versus 74.0g. If winter insulation is all you're after, the current model is enough.

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XTherm NXT

Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 36,960 (as of 10/14). Prices vary by up to JPY 50,600 between shops. Prices change daily.

The Z Lite SOL R is just 10g lighter than the current model, with the same R-value and thickness, so on paper I can't find a reason to wait. How to read R-values is in the mat R-value article.

Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 9,999 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 12,750 between shops. Prices change daily.

Decide by how it differs from the current model: who should wait, and who can buy now

GearWait ifBuy the current model if
WindmasterYou want to use 4-arm pot supports (stand-alone version if the set is gone)You only use small pots and want the 67g of the 3-arm version
NeoAir XThermYou camp on rough ground and put fabric toughness firstWinter insulation is the goal and lighter is better
Cocoon IIIYou want two bedrooms (inner from February 2027)One room is enough

Some items have no official release month yet. Snow Peak's Aero Cumulus Shell TPU door set (JPY 49,500) has no release date, and Zane Arts' KIIRA is due to be restocked in mid-to-late Oct.

Who is it for?

It best suits families who want two bedrooms. The Cocoon III's separately sold inner is the new item most worth waiting for among the 7. The military-spec mats will also be in by mid-November.

If you already have the SOD-310 and the 4-arm pot supports, the difference from the SOD-311 is 5g. If you have a NeoAir XTherm NXT or Z Lite SOL, the military versions have the same R-value, so you can keep using what you have.

One weak point to note: the mat price differences compare the top of each official price range.

FAQ

Have any 2027 tents been announced yet?

The only one with an official date is the inner tent for the Cocoon III (rolling release from February 2027). LOGOS's "2027 models" already went on sale in August and September.

When does the Windmaster SOD-311 come out?

The stove on its own is "due autumn 2026", with no date set. The SOD-311GS, the same stove bundled with two kinds of pot supports, went on sale on April 17.

When will Snow Peak's delayed new products come out?

The Stick Torch is due winter 2026 or later, and the Titanium Vacuum Mug 300 and 450 spring 2027 or later. The Sep 18 notice says this may change depending on development.
