Choose a single burner after deciding the fuel canister first. No. 1 is the OD-canister SOTO WindMaster Tri-Flex Set SOD-311GS: a 60g body at 3.3kW, with two kinds of pot supports (4-arm and 3-arm), for JPY 9,350. If you want to use your home cassette canisters, the CB-canister SOTO Regulator Stove ST-310 is No. 2.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
With a single burner, the pot support on top decides what you can do before the body does. A small support is enough for one cup, and a pot needs a support with wide legs. So I make the set that comes with two kinds of pot supports my pick.
Key points
- Dividing output by weight, the SOD-311GS body gives 5.5kW per 100g. The two CB models are under 1kW, a gap of about 6x
- The strongest is the Primus P-153 at 4.2kW, but the official store showed out of stock
- SOTO writes that heat output is a value measured at 25°C with no wind

Single burner weight differs from 60g to 330g
SOTO's WindMaster has a 60g body, while SOTO's own Regulator Stove ST-310 is 330g. That is more than a 5x difference. Both of the heavy two are CB-canister burners.
So the first thing to decide is the canister. I compared 6 by official page numbers, and ranked among those you can buy on Rakuten.
How I chose
The first thing I looked at was fuel: CB canister (the household cassette gas canister) or OD canister (the round outdoor canister). Next I divided output by weight, and last I split by what you can put on the pot support.
When you spend half the year camping, what goes on the burner changes by day. Some days it is a cup to boil water, some days a pot. So after the output number, I look at the pot support.
Choosing a single burner: canister, output, pot support
- Canister: a CB canister is the household cassette gas canister you can get at convenience stores and supermarkets. An OD canister is for outdoor use and lets the body be made smaller. This time there are 2 CB models and 4 OD models.
- Output: look at kW. These six run from 2.7 to 4.2kW. For makers that write kcal/h, divide by 860 to get kW.
- Pot support: whether it fits the size of your pot. Among small OD-canister burners, some types let you swap the support to match the pot.

Why this order
| Rank | Model | Why it ranks here |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | SOTO SOD-311GS | A 60g body at 3.3kW comes with two kinds of pot supports, but the price is the highest of the six |
| 2 | SOTO ST-310 | 2.9kW on home cassette canisters, but at 330g it is the heaviest of the six |
| 3 | Primus P-153 | The strongest of the six at 4.2kW, but the official store showed out of stock |
| 4 | Iwatani CB-JCB | At about 274g on a CB canister it is lighter than the ST-310, but 2.7kW is the lowest of the six |
| 5 | Snow Peak GS-100R2 | Light at 75g, but output is written only in kcal/h |
| 6 | SOTO SOD-320 | At JPY 6,270 it is the lowest price of the 6, but the official page says it has no micro regulator |
No. 1 SOTO WindMaster Tri-Flex Set: a 60g body released April 2026
Here is what I am excited about. Light and strong. 3.3kW from a 60g body. 5.5kW per 100g stands far ahead of the other six (3.3 ÷ 60 × 100). It is a set released on Apr 17, 2026, and comes with both the 3-arm pot support for cups (about 7g) and a 4-arm pot support 145mm across (about 22g).
This part is a weak point. It is expensive. JPY 9,350 is the highest of the six. The standalone SOD-311 is “planned for autumn 2026” with no date. I lined up the numbers on waiting or buying now in the WindMaster SOD-311 review.
No. 2 SOTO Regulator Stove ST-310: 2.9kW on home cassette canisters
If you choose by CB canister, this one. 2.9kW, and SOTO writes that one CB canister lasts about 1.5 hours. Being able to share canisters with your home hot pot is the strength of only the two CB models.
This part is a weak point. At 330g it is more than 5 times No. 1. It suits car campers who want the same fuel as at home. The new items to add to the ST-310 are the Kakom Base Stand, which raises load capacity to 10kg, and the Kakom Smoker, which lets you smoke food.

No. 3 Primus Ultra Burner P-153: the strongest of the six at 4.2kW
If you want output, this one. It is strong. 4.2kW is 0.9kW above No. 1, at 116g. The official page writes gas consumption of 245g per hour, so the can empties faster in proportion to the output.
The trouble is stock. The official store showed an out-of-stock notice. It is a unit for people who want to boil water quickly in a bigger pot.
Primus 153 Ultra Burner P-153
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 6,600 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 11,000 between shops. Prices change daily.
No. 4 Iwatani Junior Compact Burner CB-JCB: about 274g on a CB canister
Among CB-canister burners, the lighter one. At about 274g, it is about 56g lighter than the No. 2 ST-310. Continuous burn time is written as about 120 minutes on one Iwatani cassette gas canister.
This part is a weak point. 2.7kW is the lowest of the six, and the price is an open price with no official number. It suits people who want to cut weight a little on a CB canister.
Iwatani Junior Compact Burner CB-JCB
Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 3,930 (as of 10/13). Prices vary by up to JPY 11,550 between shops. Prices change daily.
No. 5 Snow Peak Giga Power Stove Chi: 75g
It matches No. 1 on lightness. It is small. 75g, packed 44 × 35 × 82mm. Output is 2,500kcal/h, which divided by 860 is about 2.9kW.
This part is a weak point. What you can choose it on is lightness and small size. It is a unit for people who want to share it with their hiking pack.
No. 6 SOTO Amicus SOD-320: JPY 6,270
On price, it is the lowest-priced of the six. Within reach. 3.0kW at 81g, packed 40 × 43 × 75mm.
This part is a weak point. SOTO writes that it is a model without a micro regulator. If you will use it in cold seasons, I look first at the WindMaster, which has the micro regulator in its name.

Lowest price on Rakuten: JPY 6,270 (as of 10/13). Prices change daily.
The output number is measured at 25°C with no wind
| Model | Heat output | Weight | Per 100g |
|---|---|---|---|
| SOD-311GS (body) | 3.3kW | 60g | 5.5kW |
| GS-100R2 | About 2.9kW | 75g | About 3.9kW |
| SOD-320 | 3.0kW | 81g | About 3.7kW |
| P-153 | 4.2kW | 116g | About 3.6kW |
| CB-JCB | 2.7kW | About 274g | About 1.0kW |
| ST-310 | 2.9kW | 330g | About 0.9kW |
SOTO writes the ST-310's output and runtime as “measured at 25°C with no wind.” Campsites have wind, and in autumn and winter the temperature drops. I read the table's numbers as close to an upper limit in well-matched conditions. I put the difference between canisters in cold in the CB and OD canister difference.
The official pages also write about fire safety. SOTO says it is for outdoor use only, and Iwatani writes never to use it inside a tent or car.
Who is it for?
It suits people who have cup days and pot days. The No. 1 SOD-311GS is a reliable set released in April 2026, a 60g body at 3.3kW with two kinds of pot supports.
If you already have a two-burner and have no plan to go solo, what you have is enough. The six's output runs from 2.7 to 4.2kW, so if nothing is bothering you, there is no hurry to replace.
FAQ
CB canister or OD canister for a single burner: which is better?
OD canisters if you want to cut weight, CB canisters if you want the same fuel as at home. In these numbers, the four OD burners were 60 to 116g and the two CB burners were about 274 to 330g.
How many kW of output does a single burner need?
These 6 run from 2.7 to 4.2kW, and for just boiling water the gap is within 1.6x. SOTO writes that its heat output is measured at 25°C with no wind, so I read it as coming out weaker than this number in wind.
Can I use a single burner inside a tent?
No. SOTO says it is for outdoor use only, and Iwatani writes never to use it inside a tent or car.
