NANGA's Dry Dehydrate Bag is a sleeping bag in which the UDD BAG, in the line since 2014, returned on Sep 11, 2026 with a new name and build. For camping on foot with a pack on your back, I choose the 470DX: comfort temperature 0°C, about 800g, JPY 59,400 incl. tax. It is the lightest of NANGA's new bags that reach comfort 0°C.

The down itself is treated to be super water-repellent, and even the thread in the seams is swapped for a water-shedding thread. Condensation is less likely to seep through the seams, so the down does not deflate easily even with light fabric. That is why I choose the 470DX for autumn mountain camping where every gram counts.

When is the Dry Dehydrate Bag out? From JPY 48,400

The Dry Dehydrate Bag went on sale on Sep 11, 2026 at NANGA's official online shop. It renames the UDD BAG, which had run since 2014, and is the first series to redesign it.

There are 5 models, the 310DX, 430DX, 470DX, 630DX and 900DX, from JPY 48,400 incl. tax. They come in short, regular and long; the long costs JPY 2,200 more and has 30g more down.

How I judged it

Spending half the year camping, a sleeping bag is cargo you pack every morning and unroll every night. So among bags with enough comfort temperature, I start with the lightest and smallest.

NANGA's new bags that reach comfort 0°C are the Dry Dehydrate Bag 470DX, the Aurora Tex Light 480DX and the Revive Bag −8. The 470DX is about 800g, 70g lighter than the 480DX and 230g lighter than the Revive Bag −8. What I weighed is that its limit temperature of −5°C is 3°C higher than the 480DX, but for walking with a pack I take this lightness.

What changed from the UDD BAG?

The biggest difference is the seams. The quilted outer is sewn with water-repellent thread, and the thread itself sheds water, so condensation does not linger in the seams. The down is 770FP Spanish duck down with a super water-repellent treatment (UDD DX), and the outer and lining are 15-denier water-repellent nylon.

The shape changed too. The side zipper moves to the chest side, the hood is an arch shape that is easy to close even over a down jacket, and the foot is a three-dimensional box. The 470DX uses box quilting on the front to keep the down lofted.

The name joins DRY and DEHYDRATE (to remove water). It is a new model that states its strength of resisting wetness right in the name.

The 430DX and 470DX pack to the same 14cm diameter × 30cm long. With 40g more down, comfort temperature drops 4°C, weight rises 70g and the price rises JPY 5,500. If you will use it into autumn nights, the 470DX, with more temperature margin at the same size, is the better value.

Who the Dry Dehydrate Bag suits

It suits people who tent-camp on hikes, or camp by bike or motorcycle and want their gear small. A comfort-0°C bag packs to about 800g and about 4.6L, taking little room even at the bottom of a pack. The hood shape that works with a down jacket on is useful on a cold mountain morning too.

For spring and early autumn only, the 430DX is JPY 5,500 cheaper and 70g lighter. For winter camping where you carry by car, the 630DX, or the wider Revive Bag, is another way to choose.
