The UNIFLAME Fire Rail is a fire pit about 10cm high, released on July 11, 2026. It's my pick for people who want a low fire close to the ground that handles both the campfire and cooking. The clinchers are a double heat shield and two movable pot supports that take anything from a Sierra cup to a big pot. JPY 13,200 incl. tax, about 2.9kg.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

Two heat shields are stacked under the firebox, which greatly cuts the heat reaching the ground. Since heat doesn't escape downward easily, radiant heat stays low enough that you can even set it on a table. So I don't choose the Fire Rail as just a low fire pit; I choose it as a stand that turns both the ground and the table into a place for fire.

When was the Fire Rail released? What's the price?

The UNIFLAME Fire Rail (No.683361) went on sale on Saturday, Jul 11, 2026. It's JPY 13,200 incl. tax, weighs about 2.9kg, and is made of stainless steel.

In use it measures about 50×23×10cm high. It's a low fire pit for low-style camping, and with the included pot supports the height becomes about 15cm.

How I judged it

The first thing I looked at was how low it is, about 10cm. Low fire pits tend to scorch the ground, so next I checked how it handles heat. The Fire Rail has a double heat shield.

What gave me pause is that it costs JPY 5,280 more than the classic Fire Grill (JPY 7,920). I still recommend it because it packs thin at about 5.5cm, works on a table, and comes with two pot supports for cooking right out of the box.

As shown on each official page on Oct 18, 2026 (incl. tax). Distributed load capacity is about 10kg for the Fire Rail and about 20kg for the Fire Grill.

By packed volume, the Fire Rail is about 5,060cm³ (40×23×5.5) and the Fire Grill about 9,844cm³ (37.5×37.5×7). The Fire Rail is about 51%, so it takes roughly half the space in your cargo area.

The fire bed outline is about 1,150cm² for the Fire Rail (50×23) and about 554cm² for the ogawa SOLO (32×17.3). At the same roughly 3kg, the Fire Rail gives you about twice the length, a shape that makes it easy to lay long logs sideways.

Divide price by weight and the Fire Rail is about JPY 4.6 per gram (13,200÷2,900), the Fire Grill about JPY 2.9 (7,920÷2,700), and the ogawa SOLO about JPY 8.4 (25,300÷3,000). It costs more than the Fire Grill by the value of the heat shield and pot supports, and sits far more within reach than the SOLO with its steel top plate. I cover other fire pits in the 12 fire pits comparison.

How the Fire Rail works: double heat shield and movable pot supports

Two heat shields are stacked under the firebox, greatly reducing heat damage to the ground. It's designed to limit radiant heat, so you can also use it on a table.

Both pot supports move, so you can put a Sierra cup on one and a big pot on the other. When you spend more than half the year camping, fire time is also water-boiling time. So when I choose a fire pit, I check whether pot supports come with it.

I wrote about a table to set beside the fire in the review of UNIFLAME's own Takibi Table.

The weak points

The distributed load capacity is about 10kg, half the Fire Grill's about 20kg. If you'll put a heavy pot like a Dutch oven on it every time, you may want a stand with more headroom. Even with the heat shield, it won't fully prevent damage to grass or the ground.

Precautions when using it

When using it on a table, take good care with sparks and tipping over. If you use a fire sheet, check the rules and safety of the campsite or park. You can see how to assemble it in the video on the official page and the instruction manual (PDF).

Who the Fire Rail suits

It suits people who sit around a low fire in low-style chairs and want to boil water or warm a pot right there. It packs at about 5.5cm thin and puts the heat shield and pot supports into one unit, a new release that makes solo and duo fires a lot lighter to manage.

If grilling on a net is your main thing, the Fire Grill with its grill at 33cm is another choice.
