Spending more than half the year camping, you sit down and stand up dozens of times a day. So before how low it is, I look at how easy it is to get up from. A 35cm seat with a backrest, and a support frame at the back that holds down sinking. It is a chair aimed between the lowness of low style and the bulk of high style.

When is the Nice Middle Chair out? A 35cm one-seater
The DOD Nice Middle Chair (C1-249) went on sale in early Oct 2026. The reference price incl. tax is JPY 8,800, the seat is about 35cm and it weighs about 4.1kg.
The answer: it is a chair for people who want sitting and standing to be easier. It aims between a low chair that is too low and a high chair that is bulky to load.
How I judged it
The first thing I looked at was seat height. 35cm is the same height as the Helinox Chair One and 6.5cm lower than Hilander's low type (about 41.5cm). Even so, a backrest and armrests keep your lower back from dropping for its lowness.
What I weighed was weight and packed size. 4.1kg is about 4.6 times the Chair One's 893g (4,100 ÷ 893). Packed it is about 71 × 14 × 20cm, about 19.9L as a box, which is not small. Still, I recommend it because the support frame at the back that holds down sinking and the JPY 8,800 price suit the first chair of someone who carries by car.

By my own division, the sofa is about JPY 7,700 (15,400 ÷ 2) and about 4kg (8 ÷ 2) per seat. Per seat that is cheaper and lighter than the chair's JPY 8,800 and 4.1kg. Load capacity is about 32 times its own weight for the chair and about 25 times for the sofa (200 ÷ 8).

The Haba Nice Sofa is the wide two-seat version
The Haba Nice Sofa (CS2-248) is a folding sofa wide enough for two adults. It is about 106cm wide as is, and about 160cm with the side tables on both sides opened. Folded it is a slim 24cm wide and stands up in the cargo area.
For 2 people, it works out JPY 2,200 cheaper than 2 chairs (JPY 17,600) (17,600 − 15,400). But since you cannot move them separately as chairs, if you want each of 1 people to place their seat wherever they like, take the chair.

Nice Middle Chair or the Good Luck Bench, also new this autumn?
DOD's autumn new gear also includes the Good Luck Bench (C2-261), a two-seat bench with no backrest. It is 120cm wide with a 33cm seat, about 3.7kg, 200kg load capacity and JPY 9,900. Per seat that is JPY 4,950 (9,900 ÷ 2) and about 1.85kg, cheaper and lighter than the Haba Nice Sofa.
The deciding factor is the backrest. For long talks seated and relaxing after meals, the Nice Middle or the sofa. If you also want a platform for a cooler box or a shelf in the car's cargo area, the bench.

Things to watch
The fabric cannot be removed and washed. If it gets wet, wipe it and dry it well before packing. Polyester fabric can get holes from sparks, and when sitting near a fire, hanging a flame-retardant blanket over the back is recommended.
Load capacity is a guide for static load. Sitting down with momentum falls outside the premise of the figure.

Who the Nice Middle Chair suits
It suits people who carry by car and camp with a lot of standing up and sitting down. A 35cm seat with backrest and armrests, and a support frame at the back that holds down sinking, is easy on the lower back on days you stand up many times to cook and clean. A load capacity of 130kg with room to spare for JPY 8,800 is welcome in a first chair too.
