The Magical Table is a buy if two people going by car want a light, wide dining table for under JPY 10,000. The deciding points are a 78.5 × 45.5cm top and a 1.9kg body, at the official store price of JPY 9,900 incl. tax. For hot pots and heavy items, pair it with a trivet or a separate stand for peace of mind.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

The top and legs are aluminum alloy, split into 3 parts that go in a bag. That is how 0.36m² of space comes in at 1.9kg, and in exchange what it can carry is 10kg. So I buy it not as a stand for pots but as a table for two where plates, cups and a tabletop burner line up.

Skip the reasons and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • The top is 78.5 × 45.5cm, about 0.36m². That is about 2.5 times the area of the Rider's Table RX, at only about 2.2 times the weight
  • Static load capacity is 10kg. That is five 2L water-filled bottles, and DOD adds that it is not a guaranteed value
  • The product page says the top is heat-resistant, but the instruction manual cautions against placing heated pots or kettles directly on it

The Magical Table is lighter than a 2L plastic bottle, and carries five bottles' worth

In a press release dated Sep 17, 2026, DOD announced sales of the Magical Table (TB2-264-BR). The official store price is JPY 9,900 incl. tax. The body is 1.9kg, and DOD writes that it is "lighter than a 2L plastic bottle."

What its top can carry is 10kg of static load. That is five 2L water-filled bottles (10 ÷ 2). It is a worthwhile pick as a table for two going by car. For a place to set pots, pairing it with a separate stand is another way to choose.

How I judged it

The first thing I looked at was the balance of top area and weight. 78.5 × 45.5cm is about 0.36m², about 2.5 times the Rider's Table RX, for only about 2.2 times the weight.

Eating outdoors more than half the year, a table also becomes a place for pots. So I read the heat section of the instruction manual, and that is where I wavered. Still, I recommend it because a top wide enough for two sets of plates comes in under JPY 10,000.

Magical Table size and build: the "ultra-light" that splits into 3

DOD does not explain the origin of the name on its official page. The clues are the product page copy "ultra-light, compact table for two" and the feature heading "ultra-light design, under a 2L plastic bottle." The reasons DOD gives for the lightness are two: a refined frame and an aluminum top.

The instruction manual shows how it is made. There are 3 kinds of parts: a folding top, 2 poles and the leg frame, all in aluminum alloy. The leg frame stands by fitting tubes with an elastic shock cord inside into joints. It is the same idea as tent poles, and with no thick legs or metal fittings it is lighter.

In exchange, assembly takes 8 steps in the manual. It is not a table that stands just by opening it.

A heat-resistant top, but hot pots cannot go directly on it

The product page says "heat-resistant top" and explains you can cook with a tabletop burner on it. The manual's precautions, however, say not to place heated pots, kettles or other high-temperature items directly on it, which can cause deformation or damage.

I read it by the instruction manual. It works as a stand for a burner, but not as a stand for a pot taken off the fire. In our ranking of camp tables comparing 7, the only one the official materials said could take a heated pot directly was the UNIFLAME fire pit table. Adding this one does not change that.

The weak points

Point 1 is load capacity. The static load of 10kg is one third of the Rider's Table RX's 30kg and one fifth of the Table One Hard Top's 50kg. The manual also says it is not a guaranteed value and not to sit or put your weight on the top.

Point 2 is packed length. At about 53 × 10 × 16cm, it is 9cm longer than the Rider's Table RX and 11.5cm longer than the Table One Hard Top.

DOD's official store showed the brown out of stock as of Oct 14, 2026.

As listed on the official pages on Oct 14, 2026, with prices incl. tax (the Rider's Table RX at a reference price, the Table One Hard Top from the mont-bell official store). Weights are the body only, and the Magical Table is about 2.1kg with accessories. Areas are my own calculation, top length × width (0.785 × 0.455 = about 0.36).

Working out top area per liter of packed bag, the Magical Table is about 421cm² (packed 53 × 10 × 16 = about 8.5L, 3,572 ÷ 8.48). The Rider's Table RX is about 516cm² and the Table One Hard Top about 455cm². On folded smallness, it does not match the two light ones.

  • For people who want to line up plates for two, the Magical Table. It is about 1.5 times the Table One Hard Top's area at half the price.
  • For people who carry on foot or by motorcycle, the Table One Hard Top. At the same 38cm height, it weighs less than half.
  • For 1-person use in a low chair, the Rider's Table RX. It is 8cm lower and JPY 3,600 cheaper.

What you also need

The set includes the top, 2 poles, the leg frame and a carry bag. The manual says to wear gloves when assembling and packing. Gloves are not included.

The chair DOD names as a pairing is the Swalls X High 2 (seat heights of 30 / 36cm). At a 36cm seat, the top lands 2cm higher (38 − 36). The manual says replacement parts are handled on the official store's repair parts page.

It suits two people who go by car, sit in a chair with a seat of around 35cm, and want plates, cups and a tabletop burner lined up on one table.

Who is it for?

The best fit is a dining table for 2 people going by car. Top 78.5 × 45.5cm, 38cm high, coming in at 1.9kg and JPY 9,900.

For hot pots, put a trivet between, and keep heavy items to 10kg for peace of mind. If you carry on foot, a table under 1kg is also a candidate.

FAQ

How many steps does it take to assemble the Magical Table?

Eight steps in the instruction manual. You stand the leg frame, fit 2 poles on the back of the top, and push in the leg ends.

Is there a warranty on the Magical Table?

No warranty card is included, but there is 1 year of free service. According to the manual, it covers faults and damage under normal use, and consumables are excluded.

Can the Magical Table be left outside?

No. The manual says it is not for permanent installation and cautions against leaving it long in direct sunlight because ultraviolet light degrades it.
