The ogawa Reclining Low Chair is a chair worth buying if you carry by car and want to lean your head back by the fire. The deciding point is that the backrest tilts from 95 to 135 degrees in 4 steps while the seat stays at a low 28cm. The official store shows release due Oct 10, 2026 at JPY 14,900 incl. tax, and for those who carry it by hand over long distances, about 4.5kg is too heavy.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
The backrest angle is held by grooves in the armrests, so you can change from a 95-degree dining posture to a 135-degree lying-back posture without changing how low the seat is. So I read this roughly 4.5kg not as the weight of one chair but as the combined weight of a dining chair and a nap chair.
Key points
- The packed height of "88cm" on the box label is wrong; the correct figure is 75cm. ogawa issued a correction on Oct 9, 2026. Converted to volume, it is 44.1L rather than about 51.7L
- The packed volume of 44.1L is about 3.1 times that of the LOGOS Cloud Nest Chair (14.3L). Four chairs for a family come to 176.4L
- The official page says the recline action may feel stiff. When raising it, pull the center of the backrest with both hands rather than the armrests

The Reclining Low Chair goes on sale Oct 10. Reclines to 135 degrees, 28cm seat
The ogawa Reclining Low Chair (model 1750) is shown on the official store as due Oct 10, 2026 at JPY 14,900 incl. tax. The backrest tilts in 4 steps, 95, 105, 125 and 135 degrees, seat height is 28cm and load capacity is 120kg.
It is a chair worth buying for people who carry by car and want to lean their heads back by the fire. At about 4.5kg with a packed length of 75cm, if you carry it by hand over long distances, a light chair is another way to choose.
How I judged it
The first thing I looked at was the 28cm seat. It is only 5cm above the top edge of a 23cm-high fire pit (the Coleman Fire Disc), low enough to reach firewood while seated.
The angle range is 40 degrees (135 − 95). What I weighed was the weight of about 4.5kg, but if you carry by car, I take the one chair that switches between dining and lying-back postures.
The Reclining Low Chair's packed size, and the box label correction
| Item | Reclining Low Chair |
|---|---|
| Official price (incl. tax) | JPY 14,900 |
| Size in use | 49 × 65 × 78cm high |
| Seat height | 28cm |
| Weight | About 4.5kg |
| Load capacity | 120kg |
| Backrest angle | 4 steps (95, 105, 125, 135 degrees) |
| Packed size | 75×21×28cm |
| Frame | Aluminum |
| Accessories | Carry bag, headrest |
On Oct 9, 2026, ogawa issued an apology for a misprint on this chair's box label, and the error is the packed height. The "88cm" on the box should be "75cm." The table above uses the corrected figure.
Converting the 13cm gap into volume, 21 × 28 × 88 = about 51.7L becomes 21 × 28 × 75 = 44.1L, so anyone who estimated the cargo space from the box figure can revise down by 7.6L.
The upholstery material is "nylon 600 × 300d PVC coated" in the store, but "polyester" in the release notice and on the box label, so the official sources disagree.
The armrests set the backrest angle
In the instruction manual, you lift the armrest, slide it back or forth and set it in a groove to change the angle. The store also says "four steps by changing the stopper position under the armrest." The armrest is both a board for your arm and a prop that holds up the backrest.
That is why the manual cautions against putting load on the rear of the armrest and against standing on the armrest. People who push hard on the back of the armrest when standing up should read this first.
Camping more than half the year, a chair does three jobs a day: meals, the fire and naps, so I read a chair's numbers from seat height and angle range before weight.
The weak points
Point 1 is size. At about 4.5kg it is 900g heavier than Snow Peak's Low Chair 30 (3.6kg), the heaviest in our comparison of 12 chairs, and its 44.1L packed size is about 1.5 times the 29.1L that was the largest in the same article. Four chairs for a family come to 44.1 × 4 = 176.4L.
Point 2 is the reclining action. The recline action may feel stiff. When raising it, pull the center of the backrest toward you with both hands instead of the armrests.
As for fire, the manual cautions to "keep high-temperature things away, such as near open flame" and that "fabric may melt."

For people who want to change angles, want load capacity margin for their body weight, or want to sit low by the fire, the ogawa. The price is also JPY 1,600 lower.
For people who want to free up loading space, the LOGOS. Its packed volume is about one third and it is 800g lighter. The 37cm seat is the same height as the UNIFLAME fire pit table (37cm high) and 14cm above the top edge of a fire pit. LOGOS's load capacity is shown as a guide based on static load.
LOGOS Cloud Nest Chair

What you also need, and how to buy
The carry bag and headrest are included. Assembly is just unfolding it and pushing down the handle on the back. Table heights to match the 28cm seat are compared in our ranking of camp tables.
The store carries a "direct sales only" mark. It showed that pre-order stock sold out as of Oct 6, and regular stock goes on sale from 10:00 on Oct 10.
Who is it for?
The best fit is someone who wants to lean their head back by the fire. The seat stays at 28cm while the backrest tilts in 4 steps from 95 to 135 degrees. A new model released Oct 10, and reclining this far from a low chair feels good.
At about 4.5kg with a packed length of 75cm, it suits people who go by car. If you mostly eat at a high table, a chair with a higher seat is easier.
