The Coleman Outdoor Comforter is a buy for two people going by car in spring and autumn, a single piece that works as both a duvet and a sleeping bag. The deciding points are a comfort temperature of 8°C and up, and a 160cm width that covers two. On sale in stages from mid-September 2026 at JPY 11,880 incl. tax, it is not enough for people who also camp in winter.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

Sleeping outside half the year, the same bedding meets May nights and October nights. Whether the temperature line is the temperature you can sleep in with this one piece, or an amount added to something else, changes which nights you can take it out. So before the "8°C" in the product name, I read which 8 it is.

Skip the reasons and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • Coleman's 8°C is the comfort temperature for sleeping with this piece alone. LOGOS's 8°C is a guide to what it adds when layered over a compatible sleeping bag; the same number means different things
  • Weight per m² is almost the same, Coleman 719g and LOGOS 690g. What differs is not thickness but size (3.2m² and about 1.38m²) and role
  • No washing machine, hand wash only. Packed size is about ø26 × 50cm, though the product page has a different figure of about Φ20 × 37cm

The Outdoor Comforter is an "up to 8°C duvet" released in mid-September

The Coleman Outdoor Comforter (navy, model 2244721) is a new model announced in a news release of Aug 19, 2026 as "on sale in stages from mid-Sep." The suggested retail price is JPY 11,880 incl. tax.

It is worth buying if you go by car in spring and autumn, when lows do not fall below 8°C, and want two people to share one cover. If you also camp in winter, the comfort temperature is not enough, and you can only hand wash it.

How I judged it

The first thing I looked at was the line "comfort temperature, 8°C and up." It is a comfort temperature, not a limit, so you can use it directly as a basis for choosing. Lined up with LOGOS's piece, also new this autumn, weight per m² was almost the same at 719g and 690g.

What I weighed was the weight of about 2.3kg and that it is hand wash only. Still, I recommend it. One 160cm-wide piece works as a duvet for two, and folded it becomes a sleeping bag.

As listed on the official pages on Oct 14, 2026, and in Coleman's news release of Aug 19, 2026. Weight per 1m² is weight ÷ area (2,300 ÷ 3.2, 950 ÷ 1.376).

Converted to price per 1m² too, it is JPY 3,713 and JPY 3,597 (11,880 ÷ 3.2, 4,950 ÷ 1.376), a gap of only about 3%. Coleman is pricier and heavier because its area is about 2.3 times larger.

Comfort temperature 8°C means something different from LOGOS's "8°C"

Coleman's 8°C is a comfort temperature, the air temperature on a night you sleep under this alone. LOGOS's 8°C is "warmth guide: plus 8°C," what it adds when fastened over a compatible sleeping bag.

Coleman is the main bedding, and LOGOS is a part added to a sleeping bag. The two 8s are not numbers to compare.

The meaning of comfort temperature is collected in our article on sleeping bag comfort and limit temperatures. My line is "comfort temperature equal to or below the night's low," so this piece goes to a night with a low of 8°C. Coleman's reading material says to choose a rated temperature 5°C below the low for peace of mind, and by that, it is good to a 13°C night (8 + 5).

The warmth comes from a far-infrared reflective aluminum finish on the lining. The release says it efficiently reflects heat from the body.

The foot pocket, and mat width

At the foot is a pocket for sliding in a mat. The match is the separately sold Camper Inflator Mat Hi-Peak/Double, about 200 × 128 × 10cm thick and about 5kg.

Subtracting the mat's 128cm from the duvet's 160cm leaves 32cm, 16cm over on each side. That covers the 10cm-thick sides and still leaves 6cm (16 − 10). The official description goes only as far as holding down slipping while reducing cold air getting in.

The weak points

Point 1 is washing. A note in the release says "machine use is not allowed," so it is hand washing. Hand washing a 3.2m² duvet of about 2.3kg is a chore for family bedding. LOGOS can be washed whole in a large washing machine.

Point 2 is the balance of size and temperature. Packed size is about ø26 × 50cm, a volume of about 26.5L (3.14 × 13 × 13 × 50). It takes 1.7 times the space of LOGOS's about 15.8L, and you sleep only down to nights of 8°C.

Packed size disagrees within the official materials: the product page's image caption says "about Φ20 × 37cm," while the spec field and the release say "about ø26 × 50cm." This article calculates with the spec field's numbers.

Coleman vs LOGOS: which to choose

  • If you do not yet own a sleeping bag, or want two people to share one cover, Coleman. Shared by two, each person's width is 80cm (160 ÷ 2).
  • If you own one of LOGOS's compatible sleeping bags and only want to add on cold nights, LOGOS. The product page lists 7 compatible sleeping bags.

Other bedding this autumn is lined up in our article on autumn 2026 new sleeping bags. For two people who want to sleep close to how they do at home with a duvet on spring and autumn car camping trips, I recommend Coleman.

Who is it for?

The best fit is two people who go by car in spring and autumn and want to share one cover. Comfort temperature 8°C and up, and 160cm of width covers both. A new model that works as a duvet or a sleeping bag, and bedding rolled into one piece is welcome.

In periods when the low drops below 8°C, the comfort temperature is not enough. At about 2.3kg and about 26.5L, it is bedding you load in a car. For one person sleeping, an envelope-type bag in the same price band is enough.
