The LOGOS Hyper Subzero Cool Box Slip Lid 55, released on Jan 29, 2026, is the larger size of the strongest-cooling model in the Hyper Subzero series. It is JPY 48,000 incl. tax, about 55L and about 5kg. It holds 12 2L plastic bottles standing up, and in the maker's own test ice remained through day 7.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
When you spend more than half the year camping, a cooler is the tool you open most often. So I look at how little effort the lid takes to open as much as the days it keeps cold. With no zipper, and the lid's ridge locking into the body's groove, it opens just by lifting and is hard to leave unclosed. About 5kg for 55L is also a strength that big hard coolers do not have.
Key points
- Released Jan 29, 2026, JPY 48,000 incl. tax, about 55L, about 5kg. Holds 12 2L plastic bottles standing up
- In the maker's own test (25°C, 26% ice and 10% subzero packs), ice remained through day 7. The stated cold-keeping figure is 6 days or more
- Weight per liter is about 91g, lighter than the 40 (about 105g). The price per liter is also low at about JPY 873

When did the Slip Lid come out? Price and capacity
LOGOS's Hyper Subzero Cool Box Slip Lid went on sale in stages from Jan 29, 2026. The 55 (No.81670055) is JPY 48,000 incl. tax, about 55L and about 5kg; the 40 is JPY 39,000, about 40L and about 4.2kg.
My answer: it is a cooler for families on multi-night trips who want ice to last while keeping the carrying weight down. Fill it with twelve 2L bottles and the total is about 29kg (5 + 2 × 12). The 55 takes 12 standing 2L bottles, and the 40 takes 9.
How I judged it
The first thing I looked at was the lid. It has no zipper; the lid's ridge locks into the body's groove to seal, in a “slip lid structure,” and it opens by lifting. Together with 50mm insulation and a three-dimensional insulated lid, it holds the cold.
What I wavered on was which of the 40 and 55 to recommend. Weight per liter is about 91g for the 55 (5 ÷ 55) and about 105g for the 40 (4.2 ÷ 40). Price per liter is about JPY 873 for the 55 and JPY 975 for the 40. For family use, I judged the bigger 55 as cheaper per liter and lighter per liter.

Differences from the 40, and other coolers compared
Scroll the table sideways →
| Model | Outer size (inner size) | Weight | 2L plastic bottles | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slip Lid 55 | 65×42×52cm (47×28×42cm) | About 5kg | 12 | JPY 48,000 |
| Slip Lid 40 | 52×42×52cm (35×28×42cm) | About 4.2kg | 9 | JPY 39,000 |
| Captain Stag Super Cold 45 | 58×37×41cm | About 6.1kg | 12 | Open price |
Against the Captain Stag Super Cold 45, which also holds 12 bottles, the 55 is about 1.1kg lighter. The “semi-hard” shell, between soft and hard, is what saves weight compared with a rigid shell cooler.
I wrote about the vacuum insulation in the Super Cold in the Super Cold cooler box review, and the division sums for other coolers in the 12-cooler comparison.

How to read “6 days or more”
The “6 days or more” figure comes from filling the box with ice at 26% of the interior volume plus LOGOS subzero packs at 10%, and measuring how many days ice remains in a 25°C room. The 55 still had ice on day 7 in this test. It is a figure with subzero packs as the coolant; it does not mean the inside goes below freezing.
The 40 also kept ice through day 7 under the same conditions, so the two keep cold equally well. Only the capacity and width differ, so how much you pack decides the choice.
The 55 holds four separately sold subzero packs XL, and the 40 holds four subzero packs L, along with the bottles.
40 or 55: which to pick?
The two share the same 52cm height and 42cm depth, and differ only in width (52cm and 65cm). The 2L bottle count rises from 9 to 12, 3 more, and the price goes up JPY 9,000. That is JPY 3,000 per extra bottle (9,000 ÷ 3).
I would take the 55 for a family of four or two nights or more, and the 40 for one night for two, or for a car with limited trunk width. The 13cm width gap matters when you line up other gear in the trunk.
Who the Slip Lid 55 is for
It suits families on camping trips of two nights or more who want drinks and food in a single box. The tall shape takes little floor space, and six handles around the body let two people carry it. The surface is metal silver, a color that reflects sunlight. With no zipper, children only have to lift the lid to take out a drink.
It gets heavy once loaded, so if the campsite is far, it is easier paired with an outdoor wagon.
Things to watch
LOGOS warns to put food in containers first and not to put ice or water directly into the box. The lid can be stood on its side and hooked to the rim by the hook on its back, so you do not have to set it on the ground while taking things out.
