Helinox's Chair Zero LT, released in May 2026, is the company's first chair under 500g. It is JPY 23,500 incl. tax and 494g, with a load capacity of 120kg. It cuts 15g from the Chair Zero (509g) and swaps the fabric for a new material that does not rely on coating.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
When you spend over half the year camping, your load grows a little every trip. So I choose a chair by whether its weight lets me stop asking if I should bring it. At 494g it is about one plastic bottle, and it goes into the pack without a second thought. The frame walls are thinner and the fabric is strong without chemical coating, and it still keeps a load capacity of 120kg.
Key points
- Released May 2026, JPY 23,500 incl. tax, 494g (534g with the carry bag). Load capacity 120kg, seat height 28cm
- 15g lighter than the Chair Zero (509g, JPY 18,500), and JPY 5,000 more. That is about JPY 333 per gram
- A ground strap that keeps the legs from sinking into soft ground comes included. With the Table Zero LT (237g), the pair weighs 731g

When did the Chair Zero LT come out? Price and weight
Helinox's Chair Zero LT went on sale in May 2026. It is JPY 23,500 incl. tax and weighs 494g, or 534g with the carry bag. The load capacity is 120kg and the seat height is 28cm.
My answer: it is the chair for solo campers who carry their gear a long way on foot. The Table Zero LT that came out at the same time is 237g, and the two together come to 731g (494 + 237).
How I judged it
The first thing I compared was the existing Chair Zero. The weight goes from 509g down to 494g, 15g lighter, and the price goes from JPY 18,500 up to JPY 23,500, JPY 5,000 more. For those 15g, you pay about JPY 333 per gram (5,000 ÷ 15).
I still recommend it because the load capacity stays at 120kg and the 28cm seat height does not change. It cuts only weight, without lowering the numbers that matter for sitting, by updating the fabric and frame. A part that keeps the legs from sinking into soft ground also comes in the box.

How it differs from the Chair Zero
Scroll the table sideways →
| Model | Weight | Load capacity | Seat | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helinox Chair Zero LT | 494g | 120kg | 28cm | JPY 23,500 |
| Helinox Chair Zero | 509g | 120kg | 28cm | JPY 18,500 |
| Helinox Ground Chair | 637g | 120kg | 22cm | JPY 15,950 |
| Helinox Chair One | 893g | 145kg | 35cm | JPY 15,800 |
Dividing load capacity by weight gives about 243 times for the Chair Zero LT (120 ÷ 0.494) and about 236 times for the Chair Zero. It supports the same 120kg with a lighter chair.
A 28cm seat is 7cm lower than the Chair One. I put the height differences with other chairs in a table in the 12-chair comparison.

What I like about the Chair Zero LT
The best part is that the ground strap comes included. Fitted to the leg tips, it widens the area that touches the ground, spreads the load, and keeps the chair from sinking into soft soil or sand. The lighter the chair, the thinner the leg tips, and that is where it tends to be weak, so including it was a smart call.
In use it is 50.5cm wide, 46cm deep and 64cm high. The size also suits kayak and bicycle trips as well as camping. It comes in two colors, Cyan and Melon.
How the new “GhostGrid” fabric works
GhostGrid, used in part of the fabric, weaves high-strength monofilament (a single thick thread) into a ripstop grid. An ordinary light fabric makes up for the lost strength with a resin coating, but GhostGrid gets its strength and abrasion resistance from the thread and the weave.
Skipping the coating step makes the fabric lighter and lowers the environmental load of making it. The frame uses a dedicated alloy pole, “TH72M”, with thinner walls to save weight. Savings in both fabric and frame add up to 494g.
Pairing it with the Table Zero LT
The Table Zero LT is 237g, and the maker says it is about 62% lighter than the Table One. Both pack to about the size of a plastic bottle and take little room in a pack.
If you pair it with light gear for the mountains or solo trips, also check the balance with your tent's weight. I lined up light solo tents in the 12 solo tents comparison.
Who the Chair Zero LT is for
It suits people who carry gear a long way: walking from the parking lot to the site, or hiking to mountains and islands. At 494g, there are fewer moments of wondering whether to bring it, and the 120kg load capacity and the included strap keep the sense of security when you sit.
If you mostly carry gear by car, you can also pick the Chair Zero, which is JPY 5,000 cheaper, or the Snow Peak Noga Chair, which has a softer spot where your elbows rest.
Things to watch
The packed size is 36 × 12 × 12cm (about 5.2L), so the bag is not small even though the chair is light. A 28cm seat is low, so on days when you stand up and sit down a lot, the Chair One with a 35cm seat is easier to move around in.
