The Cool Spider Pro/L is a buy for families of about four who want to grill both standing and sitting. The grate is 2,040cm², and the legs switch between 40cm and 70cm. If you only grill standing a few times a year, the LOGOS Tube Grill L, about 2.2kg lighter and JPY 6,050 cheaper, is enough.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

If you eat outside half the year, not every day is a meat-grilling day; many days are yakisoba. This grill comes with both a griddle plate and a grill grate in the box, and can lift the cooking surface up to about 10cm to move it away from the fire. So after the width of the grate, I read the accessories column and the height steps of the cooking surface, and put this as a family's first grill.

Skip the reasons and see the gear first ↓

Key points

  • The cooking surface height has four steps: 0, 3, 7 and 10cm. It moves the grate away from the fire, the opposite direction to LOGOS, which brings the fire bed about 2cm closer for more heat
  • The folded volume is about 37.2L, about 3.1L smaller than the LOGOS (about 40.3L), which is about 2.2kg lighter. Grate per kg of weight is 340cm² for Coleman and 470cm² for LOGOS
  • The storage case is sold separately at JPY 4,950 and about 500g. With the body it comes to JPY 20,900 and about 6.5kg

Who the Cool Spider Pro/L is for

It is worth buying for families of about four who sometimes grill standing and sometimes sit in low chairs. The legs switch between 40cm and 70cm, and the cooking surface is about 30 × 68cm.

If you only grill standing a few times a year, there is also LOGOS's Tube Grill L. It is about 2.2kg lighter and JPY 6,050 cheaper.

How I judged it

The first thing I looked at was the 2,040cm² cooking surface (30 × 68). It is a size usable for a BBQ for four or more. Next I looked at height: two leg heights and four cooking surface heights.

What I wavered on was the weight of about 6kg and the separately sold case. I still put it at No. 1 in the ranking of 7 BBQ grills. Only this one of the seven has both a size for four or more and a switch between sitting and standing heights.

A grill that raises the grate, and a grill that brings the fire closer

Charcoal cannot be turned down with a knob like gas. The ways to change heat are to change the amount of charcoal or the distance between food and charcoal. Coleman does the latter. It explains: “The cooking surface height adjusts in four steps with the lever on the body, so you can control doneness without burning.”

The steps are 0, 3, 7 and 10cm, a difference of about 10cm between the top and bottom. Dishes that use both strong and low heat include roast beef.

LOGOS's Tube Grill L goes the other way: you hook the fire bed on a hook to bring it about 2cm closer to the grate for more heat. Two steps that bring the fire closer, or four steps that move the grate away? If you often grill things you do not want to burn, I would take Coleman with its wider range of distance.

When you add charcoal, you do not move the grate either. The charcoal tray pulls out, so you can add charcoal even in the middle of cooking.

The weak points

The first is weight. At about 6kg it is about 2.2kg heavier than LOGOS. Working out grate per kg of weight, Coleman is 340cm² (2,040 ÷ 6) and LOGOS is 470cm² (1,785 ÷ 3.8). For the weight you carry, the LOGOS has the wider grilling surface.

The second is that no storage case comes with it. The separately sold Grill Carry Case Pro/L is JPY 4,950 and about 500g, and together they come to JPY 20,900 and about 6.5kg (15,950 + 4,950). The folded length is also 73cm, so you need to measure the width of your car trunk first.

As shown on the official page on Oct 14, 2026; prices include tax. Folded volume is my own calculation: the storage size's length × width × height (Coleman 73 × 34 × 15, LOGOS 72 × 35 × 16).

What surprised me was the folded volume. The heavier Coleman is about 3.1L smaller. The legs come off for storage.

The dividing line is height and the griddle plate. Coleman for people who sometimes grill sitting down, or who also make yakisoba. If you only grill on the grate standing up, leave the JPY 6,050 difference with LOGOS.

What you need with the Cool Spider Pro/L, and what is sold separately

What is sold separately first is the storage case. The Grill Carry Case Pro/L is polyester at about 76 × 35 × 17cm high, and the Cool Spider Pro/L is named among the compatible products.

Replacement grates and griddle plates are listed on the official feature page. The large grill grate is JPY 1,100, the small is JPY 880, and the replacement griddle plate is JPY 1,320.

Charcoal, a fire starter and tongs are not in the box. The Consumer Affairs Agency urges using grills in a well-ventilated outdoor place. Not inside a tent. The griddle plate stays hot even after you finish, so keep watch so children do not touch it.

Who is it for?

It suits families of about four who have both days when they gather around low chairs and days when they grill standing. You can handle both grate cooking and griddle dishes with one grill.

For 2 to 3 people, the same series has the Cool Spider Pro at about 30 × 45cm. If you plan to grill on a fire pit, choosing from the 12 fire pit comparison means one less item to carry.
